- attending one of NETA's Designing and Delivering Effective Environmental, Safety and Health Training workshops. These award-winning workshops are designed for persons who are already proficient in technical areas, but need training or review in adult training and education programs.
- using NETA's CET Examination Guide, which contains the "need-to-know" for certification specialty areas. The Guide is sent after receipt of your application fee, or may be purchased separately.
- attending technical content and train-the-trainer workshops and seminars offered by state Environmental Training Centers, universities and colleges, the EPA, OSHA, and the private sector throughout the nation.
CERTIFIED ENVIRONMENTAL TRAINER® (CET) requirements are...
- proof of six (6) eligibility units, acquired through education and experience. At least three units (three years) must be direct experience in a relevant technical field.
- a minimum of 270 contact hours in delivering education or training.
- three professional references attesting to the applicant's skill as a trainer.
- successful completion of the CET Instructional Technology test and one or more technical specialty tests.*
- renewal every three years by proof of continuing education and experience in instructional technology and technical areas.
